Ann Arbor's most hated Opposition: Spring Potholes!

Spring is on the horizon, but along with warmer weather and blooming trees comes our city’s most notorious villain hated even more than Ohio State or Michigan State Universities — potholes. Year after year, they sneak onto our streets, wrecking tires, rattling suspensions, and turning our morning commutes into obstacle courses.

But this year, Ann Arbor — we’re fighting back.

At Ann Arbor Hub, we believe that when the community bands together, we can take on any challenge — even the pothole pandemic. The road to smoother streets starts with all of us doing our part. Here’s how we can team up to take down our common enemy:

1. Protect the Pothole Patrollers

Pothole patching crews are out across the city working hard to fill holes — but it’s dangerous work. Let’s show them some love by slowing down, giving them space, and following traffic signs. According to MDOT, work zone crashes spike in the spring, putting lives at risk. A little extra patience could literally save lives.

2. Report the Offenders

Every pothole reported gets us one step closer to smoother streets. The easiest way to report a pothole is through the A2 Fix It app or the city’s website. It’s fast, simple, and helps the city prioritize the worst potholes first. If you see something — say something!

3. Spread the Word

Once you’ve reported a pothole, rally the troops! Share updates on local community forums like:

  • The Ann Arbor Area Facebook Group

  • Nextdoor app

  • r/AnnArbor subreddit

  • And of course, right here on Ann Arbor Hub!

We'll be using our social media pages to share pothole hotspots — and we need your help. Tag us with your pothole sightings so we can keep the whole community on alert.

Let’s Patch Things Up

Potholes might be a part of Michigan life, but they don’t have to win. If we work together — driving safely, reporting damage, and keeping each other informed — we can take back our streets and make Ann Arbor a smoother, safer place to drive.
