Halfway to the Beat: Sonic Lunch Returns After Art Fair with 6 More Can’t-Miss Shows

ree

No Sonic Lunch concert this week due to the hustle and bustle of the Ann Arbor Art Fair. But don’t worry, the music picks back up next week, and we’re officially at the halfway mark of this year’s 12-show summer series.

Sonic Lunch, downtown Ann Arbor’s beloved free concert series, takes over Liberty Plaza every Thursday at noon, turning sidewalks into dance floors. With six memorable performances already behind us, the second half of the series is shaping up to be just as electric, if not more.

Here’s who’s still set to take the stage:

🎤 7/24 – The Record Company

Grammy-nominated rockers with gritty blues energy and foot-stomping soul.

🎤 7/31 – Phillip Phillips

"Home" hitmaker and American Idol champ bringing heartfelt folk-pop to the plaza.

🎤 8/7 – Andrew Horowitz & Friends

An Ann Arbor-born artist and Grammy winner (yes, that Andrew from Tally Hall) returning with a band full of surprises.

🎤 8/14 – Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe

A funky sax-driven groove fest led by a Rolling Stones touring member — expect a big sound and high energy.

🎤 8/21 – Neal Francis

Vintage keys, New Orleans-style soul, and undeniable swagger.

🎤 8/28 – JR JR

Indie-pop kings (and Michigan natives) closing the season with infectious hooks and feel-good vibes.

Whether you’ve been showing up every week or haven’t made it out yet, the second half of Sonic Lunch 2025 is stacked with talent. So mark your calendars, bring your lunch (or grab something from a local spot nearby), and meet us at Liberty Plaza.

Pro tip: Get there early for a good spot and follow @SonicLunch on Instagram for updates, giveaways, and behind-the-scenes content.

See you back under the Ann Arbor summer sun next Thursday 🎶
