Rainy Days, Ann Arbor Ways

Some days slow you down on purpose—and honestly, that’s where the magic happens. This week, we leaned into the rain and found comfort tucked into the heart of Ann Arbor.

Stop #1: Unitea
Minimal space, maximum vibes. Think plants, warm light, and soft instrumentals that make the world outside fade away. The kind of spot where you sip your tea (sweet, comforting, curl-up-on-the-couch kind of tea) and let time stretch. Grounding. Meditative.
Stop #2: Tomukun Noodle Bar
The energy picked up but the comfort carried on. We sat at the counter, bowls of bibimbap and noodles steaming in front of us, throwback hip hop + R&B in the background (Biggie and Ice Cube were on the playlist 👌). Food that warms your soul, music that takes you back—it was the definition of a vibe.
Stop #3: UMMA (University of Michigan Museum of Art)
Rainy days + art museums = perfection. From African masks to Indian miniatures to Buddhist figures carved centuries ago—every gallery was like stepping into another world. The standout? When the Gods Speak, Heaven Listens—a lit, cloudlike form hovering over a sculpted figure. Whimsical, contemplative, unforgettable.
The Takeaway
Ann Arbor has this way of turning a grey day into a gift. Between the tea, the food, the art—and the warmth of the people—it felt like a softly lit beach town, but with a Midwestern heartbeat.
Next time the rain slows you down, let Ann Arbor set the pace. Tea, noodles, world-class art—just steps apart. Trust me, it’s the kind of day worth savoring.
