Ricewood BBQ: A Must-Try Smokehouse in Ann Arbor’s Maple Village

If you’re a barbecue lover in Ann Arbor, you’ve probably heard of Ricewood BBQ. What started as a food truck back in 2015 has now grown into a full-fledged restaurant at 245 N Maple Rd, serving up some of the best smoked meats in town. Ricewood BBQ was founded by brothers Frank Fejeran and Gabe Golub, who turned their passion for barbecue into a local sensation. Their original food truck quickly became famous for serving smoked brisket, pulled pork, spareribs, and Szechuan chicken over flavorful rice bowls. After years of success, they expanded into a brick-and-mortar location in May 2022 at Maple Village, giving fans a permanent spot to enjoy their signature dishes.

What’s on the Menu?

At Ricewood BBQ, meat is the star of the show. Their smoked brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, the pulled pork is packed with flavor, and the Szechuan chicken adds a spicy kick. Each dish is served over rice and paired with Finadene sauce, a tangy soy-vinegar mix inspired by Fejeran’s Guamanian heritage.

Vegetarians don’t have to miss out either, Ricewood offers veggie-friendly options like their delicious szechuan tofu bowl. alongside delicious sides like waffle fries. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, their portions are generous, and their flavors are bold.
